Intervention...?

I do not deny Her laziness. She is lazy. Sometimes too much. And that has trickled down in her daughter. She hates to work. I think she should have been born at a King’s palace. World would be a batter place for Her then and She would have been spared the horror of working against her will every little time.
And sadly though this is reflected in Her house.
She forgets what She had kept in the refrigerator to be consumed in the evening, and cooks again unwillingly. And the sad food stays in the cold for days together. She reluctantly does Her laundry and the next few weeks, clothes keep piling.

But all this becomes a point to be hit at, ignoring all her good. Her sister-in-law comes home. Scanning the cupboards, refrigerator and the kitchen; she stands akimbo; wearing a horrid expression as if some disaster has taken place. She mocks and makes faces. Declares the house to be in a complete disarray… Nothing in front of Her though. But Her daughters face the music.

She is too stressed, dealing with the in-laws which are so difficult to handle. These days, She gives up talking…in order to avoid the arguments.
Then the sister-in-law comes in. Gently pampering the people and reassuring that whatever happens, she is there. But in times of need, she does not let them enter her house saying ‘I’ve my family to look after’… The sister-in-law ignites the fire, saying She is not a good mother… The in-laws are awestruck. Looking at the way their daughter keeps her house; and they compare. But did they miss out that their daughter does just this and nothing else in addition to gossiping!?

She wins an award. A cheque flaunting a lakh of rupees. The in-laws jump on it saying it is OUR money. But ‘your’ ugly house and ‘your’ chaotic kids…
